Issues #48-51: “Proper Preparation and Planning” - With Hughie away, Butcher revisits the Boys’ initial clash with the Seven to understand what went wrong. However, internal conflicts need addressing first, and an old, unexpected enemy resurfaces, now more formidable than ever. Meanwhile, a flying lesson on the Seven’s floating base goes disastrously wrong.

Issues #52-55: “Barbary Coast” - Hughie heads west to meet Lieutenant-Colonel Greg Mallory, the founder of The Boys. He uncovers numerous secrets, starting with the grim tale of the first superhumans in World War Two. After these revelations, Hughie must decide whether to return to the team or leave for good.

Issues #56-59: “The Big Ride” - The countdown to the finale begins as Jack from Jupiter faces a critical moment. Hughie’s return is less triumphant than he hoped, but Butcher has bigger issues to tackle. The Boys also encounter the enigmatic Doctor Peculiar.
